Taiwan: Day Four

Day Four began with a trip to the beach.  It was fun watching the kids play in the water.  Mike was right there with them too; skipping rocks, teaching the kids how to skip rocks (which translated into the youngest just throwing huge rocks into the water).  The kids got ridiculously wet and sandy so we went back to the hotel to get them cleaned up before hitting the road.

The plan was to pile into the car and drive the scenic Hwy 11 along the eastern coast up to Hualien.  And, though Hwy 11 was absolutely lovely (Chad equated it to the Pacific Coast Hwy of California), two adults and two kids in the backseat of a Honda CRV for eight hours was a bit rough.  Throw in the fact that Desi was battling car sickness and you have a recipe for disaster.  Fortunately, everyone survived the ordeal and we even had some fun on the way.

We pulled into Hualien after dark, checked into our hotel, and then proceeded to explore the city.  With a restaurant recommendation from our concierge, we headed out on an evening stroll that took us through the city.  We landed at the recommended restaurant, famous for their goose, and proceeded to have an amazing meal.
